What does the checklist help you organize?

Start with common business and carrier registrations, insurance records, driver qualifications, vehicle records and tax or fuel registrations. Each applies according to your operation; this tool helps you keep track of the questions to resolve and the records to collect.

Which documents does my trucking business need?

Your cargo, vehicle, operating area and authority arrangement affect the answer. FMCSA separates USDOT registration from operating authority. Interstate commerce can include a trip entirely inside one state when it is part of an interstate shipment. Use the linked agency guidance to check your situation.

Your home state is saved with the checklist. This is a common planning list, not a complete state permit directory or an automatic determination of every requirement. Check your state agencies, cargo-specific rules and the responsibilities agreed with any carrier you lease onto.

Can I use it without signing up?

Yes. Select your profile, mark items and download a text copy for free. Progress is saved in this browser when local storage is available. To keep a checklist with company documents across devices, start the 14-day TBOS trial. No card is required to start; ongoing workspace use follows the published plans.

Does TBOS file the documents for me?

TBOS organizes your plan and records. You complete filings with the relevant agency or provider. Checking a box is your own progress note; it does not verify a document, activate authority or establish compliance.

What comes after the startup paperwork?

Bring the records into your workspace, track document expirations and prepare your first load. Use the cost per mile calculator before accepting work, then keep the load, delivery paperwork and invoice together. The startup guide connects those steps.
